Insured, taxed and logged before you drive it away
Everything this setup adds to your household. Dates are worked out from your answers when you set it up.
Added as a profile, with everything below linked to it.
Car insurance — registration (number plate)
Record · Insurance · 21 days' notice · Renews 12 months after your date you're getting the car
Annual renewal — Daisy reminds you ~21 days ahead so you can shop around before it auto-renews.
Vehicle tax (VED) — registration (number plate)
Record · License · 14 days' notice · Renews 12 months after your date you're getting the car
Vehicle tax (VED) renewal, reminded ~14 days ahead. Many pay monthly by Direct Debit — the reminder still tracks the annual date.
MOT — registration (number plate)
Record · Certificate · 28 days' notice · Renews On your current MOT expiry (if known)
Only if the car is not brand new — the first MOT is required from 3 years old. Reminded ~28 days ahead so you can rebook if it fails.
V5C log book — registration (number plate)
Record · Certificate
A reference record for the V5C registration certificate (log book) — no renewal, just somewhere to keep the details.
Created as a project, with everything below inside it.
Arrange car insurance
Task · Due 1 day before your date you're getting the car
Legally required before you drive it away — and it's an offence to keep an uninsured car (Continuous Insurance Enforcement) unless it's declared SORN. Sort this first.
Tax the vehicle
Task · Due On your date you're getting the car
You cannot tax it without insurance, and the MOT must be valid if the car needs one. Tax doesn't transfer with the car — as the new keeper you must re-tax it before driving.

Guidance
The golden rule is insure -> tax -> drive, in that order. The car is now saved as its own thing in Daisy, and MOT, tax and insurance will remind you every year. This note creates nothing.
Consider breakdown cover
Task · Due On your date you're getting the car
Optional but common — worth arranging before a long drive.
Car purchase
Cost · £0.00 · One-off · Payment On your date you're getting the car
The one-off purchase price — set the amount to what you paid.
Insurance premium
Cost · £0.00 · Recurring · Payment On your date you're getting the car
Recurring outgoing (annual or monthly) — set the amount to your quote.
Road tax (VED)
Cost · £0.00 · Recurring · Payment On your date you're getting the car
Recurring outgoing — the VED rate depends on the car; set the amount from your tax quote.

Task · Due 2 days after your date you're getting the car
The seller notifies DVLA and you get a new V5C in ~2–4 weeks. Chase it if it doesn't arrive.
Note the MOT due date
Task · Due 1 day after your date you're getting the car
Check the car's MOT history and diarise the expiry. Skip if brand new — the first MOT is required from 3 years old.
Book the first / next service
Task · Due 6 months after your date you're getting the car
Keeping to the service schedule protects any warranty and the car's resale value.
