Register the birth

**Legally required within 42 days** in England & Wales. Book your local register office — take the red book and ID.
Claim Child Benefit

Claim once the birth is registered. **Only backdates 3 months**, so don't sit on it — first payment can arrive in ~3 days.
Register baby's name (or "the baby") with your GP

Pram / travel system

We've added your pre-birth prep, the post-birth legal & financial admin, the NHS health checks and a starter budget — every date is relative to your due date. The two not to miss: **register the birth within 42 days** (England & Wales) and claim **Child Benefit** promptly, since it only backdates 3 months. This note creates nothing.
